Great find! And worth a try. It certainly sounds like other people have had this issue.
Edit: I'll hold off downloading until we know if it can used without UL.

I checked in Morrowind Enchanted Editor it looks like it doesn't have any dependencies other than the DLC
You can take out the script GlassDisplayScript and attach it to the dongle glass cases. The mod links only to the ones in Uvirith's Legacy.

Yeah I went ahead and downloaded so I could look at it as well. Seeing as how the fix was released in 2012 it's probably not likely that the author will make a version that can be used for cases in all mods.
Okay. It's a bit of work, but at least it's an option.

Yeah, there's so many mods that use the glass case and name it their own names. Now that UL isn't a hard requirement the esp is accessible in the CK to copying the script. Which makes me happy so I can use the glass closets without worrying about that annoying looping shut and opening.

Ah, success! I made a small mod with the script and applied it in the form of a patch rather than editing the rose cottage mod itself and it works. Before adding it to my main save, I'll need to carefully go over my mods and apply the patch to whichever ones use that case.
Besides the cottage, I think the case is just in Solsthiem Castle and the Pegasus Estate.
I'm glad the patch method seems to be working, because moving out, editing, and moving back into the cottage would really be a pain.

That's great. Yeah a small patch mod is a good idea, and you can add any other glass closet case from other mods as needed.

I just remembered that I should take a look at my customized Indarys Manor. I don't think I used any of those cabinets in there, but I'm not 100% sure.

you could just player->setstrength 500 or whatever, since this is just a tech problem, and then change it back when you've been able to fix the original problem. I mean, unless you're trying to explain why you're packing up, then unpacking... down? ICly.
If you are explaining this activity ICly? Fumigation. Termites or bedbugs or maybe insect-sized daedra summoned by the Grouches because jerks. Which is also why the cabinets were wonky in the first place, yeah?

I fixed the issue already with the patch I made, so there was no need to move out.
