The smoke from the west has been coming toward us. Yesterday it got so thick that we could no longer see the mountains surrounding our house. Today we can't really see beyond the edge of our property. The woods looks like it's just very foggy, but it's smoke. We're keeping the doors and windows closed because the air isn't healthy to breath. I just took this picture of the sun. It has a hint of a copper collar. Odd SunThe deer and the other animals haven't bolted yet. Contrary to what the Bambi movie shows, animals rarely get trapped in forest fires. They leave the area long before the flames arrive. Our deer are still grazing right outside the house. So we don't really need to worry right now. It's when they and the other animals bolt that people should start gathering up food, clothing and pets and then getting out of there.

Be safe.
I hope that fire doesn't come your way.

Hopefully it won't. The smoke is certainly bad enough. My nose is still stinging from the few minutes I was standing outside to get the picture of the sun.

Smoke is so annoying even if it is a little bit, certainly not healthy. We get it here once in a while.

There is now a yellow tint to everything outside. We're not in any immediate danger, but there are enough particles in the air to affect the lighting.

We went into town today for flu shots and to pick up some supplies and the air is still terrible out there. The whole area is blanketed in smoke, making a person's eyes water and nose sting.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow, and I really hope it does since that should help clear the smoke and particles from the air.

I hope it rains for you guys, too. It seems like there isn't enough rain these days.

It's crazy. I'm all the way in Illinois and haven't seen a blue sky in a while because the smoke from out west has made it a permanent milky colour.

That's how it is here. We didn't get any rain, so there's still a blanket of smoke covering everything. The air quality is classified as "Unhealthy" and residents are advised to keep their windows closed.
