We're about to be officially into the holiday season. I know the Christmas commercials have been running since before Halloween, but typically we're not actually in the season until Thanksgiving.
Anyway, I wish each of you a wonderful Thanksgiving. This is going to be a tough one for my family since it's our first holiday season since my father died, but loosing loved ones as the years go by is an unfortunate part of life. We need to do our best to focus on the pleasant memories that our departed ones have given us.

And a happy Thanksgiving to you all from me as well.
What of my family is in the area are planning to make a morning til afternoon event of it. It'll be good to see my uncle and cousin, who I haven't seen much of after my aunt died.
In a little bit, I'll be setting down to make my contribution, a lemon meringue pie I've been experimenting with the recipe for.

That sounds delicious. Let us know how it turns out.
We just got the turkey in the oven here. In a little while I need to start putting the rest of the meal together.

The lemon filling came out just perfect, but there was a problem with the meringue. I know what went wrong, so I should be able to correct it next time, but it ended up a bit flat.
Still, I got the level of tart just right, and I'm really happy about that.

I'm glad it was a success. My fridge is now stuffed with leftovers, but that's okay. It means I can go a few days without having to cook.

Happy belated turkey day! Mine was spent with family. First T-day since my sister's recent marriage. She's known this guy since they were kids, so my attitude regarding them getting married is pretty much, 'Finally!' This is the guy my sister's son called 'dad' when he hated his dad, my sister's first husband. (I've only got the one sister.) My nephew hated his father all of said dad's life. And with understandable reason. I don't say good reason, because it's unfortunate that any child hates a parent for any reason. Despite that, I have to admit that this one is pretty damned valid.
Edit to add: nephew is now a young adult. Sister is younger than me. Gosh, I'm old!

As my father used to say; getting old is better than the alternative.

Your father was wise.
