I just finished baking some batches of gingerbread cookies. They're still warm having just come out of the oven. Who wants one?

The scent that fills the house is one of the things I really like about baking, especially at this time of year when it involves gingerbread or pumpkin spice.

I've never tried making a lemon meringue pie. You're braver than I am. On Christmas Eve I'll be making the annual peanutbutter cream with chocolate chips pie. When finished the pie looks like a really big chocolate chip cookie. When served it's topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. You know, the sort of dessert that tastes so good when you're eating it and then you feel terribly guilty about it afterward.

I just finished putting the annual peanutbutter cream pie together. This is the one that looks like a giant thick chocolate chip cookie once the chips have been added to the mixture. This is the sort of pie that makes a person feel terribly guilty after eating it, but this is the only time of year I make it, so who cares? The pie is now in the freezer to set overnight, which is luckily when I remembered to get the cornish hens out to thaw. I'll be coating them with a honey glaze for Christmas dinner.. May all of you have a lovely and peaceful Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

It's the cornish game hens that sound good to me. Hopefully there will be ribeye available at the store today- that's what we're having if there is.

The baking season may be over (actually it's now very early since we are in the new year ), but this weekend my husband had a craving for oatmeal cookies, so I made (from scratch) a batch of "Oatmeal Butterscotch Walnut" cookies. They turned out well if I do say so myself. I should give the recipe to Aeronwen for the next get-together.
